Wolfeboro, New Hampshire

The picturesque town of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, is located on the southeastern shores of the state’s largest lake, Lake Winnipesaukee.  Near the geographical center of the state, Wolfeboro is a town of about 6700 residents who are all fortunate enough to live in this beautiful region of the country.  Sweeping vistas, mountains overlooking the huge, island-filled lake, thick, lush forests, crystal clear streams – what more could you ask for in all of New England?

Back in the late 1750’s, a small group of men petitioned the Masonian Proprietors for a plot of what they called “waste land” near the southern edge of Lake Winnipesaukee.  This was granted in 1759 and the settlement was named Wolfeborough, after General James Wolfe, a victorious military leader.  More land was added over the next five years and in 1770 the town was incorporated.  Over time the spelling was shortened from Wolfeborough to Wolfeboro, the currently accepted form of the name.  Wolfeboro was the location of the governor’s first summer estate called Kingswood  – the first such estate in the state.

Today, Wolfeboro is a very popular summer resort, not just for heads-of-state, but for everyone from movie stars, to princes and princesses to writers and foreign leaders.  But more than that, it’s a playground for anyone who desires to get away from the hustle and bustle of the workaday world and enjoy the natural beauty and perfect surrounding of central New Hampshire’s Lake’s Region.  Wolfeboro is close to all the attractions of the White Mountains while being just a short one-hour drive to New Hampshire’s seacoast.  Wolfeboro itself is home to many campgrounds, motels and several bed & breakfasts with many old-fashioned shops lining the main street in town.  All this situated right beside one of the most popular lakes in all of New England makes Wolfeboro a prime destination for young and old alike.  Those who already live here realize they’re living a life surrounded by pristine beauty that most people can only witness as a visitor.

Wolfeboro is part of the Governor Wentworth Regional School District, SAU #49.  Wolfeboro is home to all its schools, from the Carpenter Elementary School and the Crescent Lake School, to the Kingswood Regional Middle and High Schools.  The towns of Brookfield, Effingham, New Durham, Ossipee and Tuftonboro also share the middle and high schools to varying degrees.

If you want to live in the middle of New Hampshire’s jaw-dropping beauty and stunning views, there’s no place better than Wolfeboro.  Close to what you want without all the big-city fuss, Wolfeboro could be your new home.  But before you start hunting for the perfect new home, you should call Jim Miller Bean Group at (603) 801-3987.  Jim knows New Hampshire’s real estate market inside and out, he knows the communities within and, most importantly, the people who have made New Hampshire “The Most Livable State” in 2007 and 2008.  Jim wants to help you find the home that’s just right for you and yours.  Call Jim today and start living the New Hampshire lifestyle sooner than you think.
