New Hampton, New Hampshire

The quiet little unassuming town of New Hampton, New Hampshire, is located in Belknap County in the central region of the state.  Just minutes from Lake Winnipesaukee, this area of New Hampshire offers enough activities to keep even the most jaded world travelers entertained.  With Interstate Route 93 residing within town lines, finding the expansive White Mountains to the north or the state’s largest cities to the south couldn’t be easier.  Small but modern, New Hampton gives residents the best of both worlds with convenience and seclusion all wrapped up into one fine community.

The town of New Hampton was originally granted as Moultonborough Addition, so-named for Colonel Jonathan Moulton, the town’s moderator.  Nearby Moultonborough itself was also named for the Colonel who, twelve years later, requested that the town be renamed New Hampton in honor of his hometown of Hampton, New Hampshire.  Twenty years later, in 1797, the northeastern part of the town was sectioned off to become its own town, the community of Center Harbor.  Considered somewhat of an affluent residential community now, New Hampton has little commercial or industrial business and relies on tourism to stimulate tax dollars.  The winter and summer months alike draw crowds of people from hundreds, if not thousands, of miles around to visit New Hampshire’s breathtaking beauty and exciting attractions.

New Hampton itself has much to offer its residents in the way of outdoor pastimes.  From boating and hiking, to camping and hunting, this region of the state boasts thousands of acres of untouched wilderness and pristine lakes and streams.  Photography is very popular in this part of the state, since incredible photo opportunities present themselves at every turn.  A more beautiful and stimulating part of the country would be hard to find.

New Hampton has organized activities specifically designed for resident children, in an attempt to keep them occupied and entertained.  These include, but are hardly limited to, baseball, soccer, basketball, and youth organizations such as Boys and Girls Scouts of America.  New Hampton is a member of School Administrative Unit #4 and a part of the Newfound Area School District, alongside Alexandria, Bridgewater, Bristol, Danbury, Groton, and Hebron, NH.  New Hampton operates its own elementary school, the New Hampton Community School, for resident children of kindergarten age through the fifth grade.  All remaining students attend either the Newfound Memorial Middle School or the Newfound Regional High School, both located in neighboring Bristol, NH.
