Origin: This township was first granted by the Masonian Proprietors in 1749 as Monadnock Number 3, or North Monadnock, one of a group of eight towns in the region designated by number. Settlements were made in the 1760s by several from Ireland, who named the township after the Irish capital. In 1771, petition was made for incorporation under the name Dublin, securing the name. Dublin is home to Yankee Publishing, Inc., publishers of well-known magazines such as Yankee and the Old Farmer's Almanac, in publication since 1792. |
