Danbury, New Hampshire

Tucked away in the central, mountainous region of the Granite State sits Danbury, New Hampshire.  A small town of only about 1200 residents, Danbury is a classic New England-style town that prides itself on tradition and strong family values.  Friendly and always with a smile, Danbury welcomes you into the fold.

The town of Danbury was originally a part of neighboring Alexandria, NH to the north.  Residents in the southern part of town complained about the fact that in order to reach the northern part of town where most of the meetings and church services were held, they had to travel around the mountain that sat squarely in the geographical center of Alexandria. These residents petitioned the state to separate their section of town from Alexandria proper in 1794 and were granted such the following year.  The town was named Danbury after Danbury, Connecticut, a town where several residents hailed from.

Danbury residents were mostly farmers, hunters and loggers.  The mountainous terrain made farming difficult, but the valley was fertile enough to produce healthy crops for over a hundred and fifty years.  Today there is little industry in Danbury, with the largest employer being the Ragged Mountain Ski Area in the northern part of town.  Most residents work in surrounding communities then return home to the quiet, tranquil town of Danbury.  There’s little to compare to sitting on your back deck, just relaxing and absorbing the stunning scenery the Granite State is known for.

Danbury lies between Routes 93 and 89, lending to ease of travel when you have to leave this little slice of heaven.  Just about fifteen minutes east or west puts you on one of these Interstates and before you know it, you’ll be enjoying the breathtaking views of the White Mountains, the pounding surf and endless sands of the seacoast, the Green Mountains of Vermont or the historic city of Boston.

Even though Danbury is a hidden gem nearly lost in the greenery of New Hampshire, it’s not far from everything you want to do.  Concord is the closest city to Danbury, and offers all the amenities of most cities today.  But Danbury residents don’t want the city trappings - that’s why they live in out-of-the-way Danbury.  It’s just nice to know that civilization is not too far away.

Danbury is a member of the School Administrative Unit # 4 and educates its own elementary school students at the Danbury Elementary School.  As a part of the Newfound Area School District, Danbury students in grades six through eight are educated at the Newfound Memorial Middle School in Bristol and those in grades nine through twelve learn at the Newfound Regional High School, also located in Bristol.  Due to low student populations, Danbury has no plans to construct additional schools in town.

Danbury is the town to buy a home in if you’re looking for a way to escape the rat race.  Peaceful, serene and beautiful, Danbury has homes for sale that are just waiting for you to move in.  But first you need to call Jim Miller Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage at (603) 801-3987.  At Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, we know this wonderful state of ours like few others.  We’d love to talk to you about Danbury or any of the other family-friendly communities within our great state.  Kind, courteous and professional, Jim Miller is here for all your home buying needs.  Call today.
