Auburn, New Hampshire A “slow-paced, relaxed attitude” best describes the town of Auburn, New Hampshire. This small town of just over 5000 people contains a large part of Lake Massabesic, the area’s fresh water supply. Municipal parks dot the town’s landscape with dozens of miles of hiking and mountain biking trails interweaving throughout the town itself. Loveliest village of the plain. The town of Auburn was finally incorporated in 1845 and is still considered by its residents to be the loveliest village. Auburn has direct access to East/West Route 101 and is within five minutes of North/South Interstate Route 93. This makes Auburn convenient to anywhere in the state. If you live in Auburn, Manchester is less than 10 minutes, the seacoast less than 45, the White Mountains about an hour. Boston, Massachusetts is just an hour south as well, but there’s plenty to do without leaving Auburn at all. If you enjoy hiking, trail jogging, mountain biking, dirt biking, cross-country skiing or snowmobiling, Auburn, NH is your dream come true. Thanks to an extensive trail network and an abandoned railroad bed that runs through Auburn and several surrounding towns, it is quite possible to get just about anywhere in the state by way of an offroad vehicle. Many of these trails surround Lake Massabesic and with picnic areas in abundance, the family can make a day of hiking or biking through some of the most scenic cliffs and waterways southern NH has to offer. Boating and fishing are very popular in the area as well, so the outdoor enthusiast will have plenty to do in Auburn. Auburn is a member of School Administrative Unit #15. It operates and maintains the Auburn Village School for resident students in grades one through eight and tuitions student in grades nine through twelve at either Manchester Memorial High School or Derry’s Pinkerton Academy.
